After she realizes she is in wilderness Florida, she is forced to survive with only the combat knife her ex-Navy SEAL grandfather has given to her with his warning, "make sure every thrust is powerful and a kill." Eventually, she acquires more weapons and skills that are necessary for her survival in this wilderness land where she comes into contact with warring natives who have joined forces with some Spaniards and slave traders. Danica is terrified, but determined to survive and get back to her time and place in life. She makes friends with some local Indians and settlers that help her find a guide that can lead her to the only person that knows the way home. Along the way, she makes three unexpected discoveries and secretly falls in love with her warrior guide.
