Katherine "Kate" Ann Moss, born on 16th January 1974, Croydon, Greater London, England, UK is a model, clothes designer, fashion editor and businesswoman. She was discovered during 1988, aged 14 by Sarah Doukas, founder of Storm Model Management, at JFK Airport in New York City, when on her way home from a family holiday in the Bahamas. Appearing at the end of the "supermodel era", Kate became famous during the mid-1990s, as part of the 'heroin chic' fashion trend, her collaborations with Calvin Klein bringing her fashion icon status, being known for her waifish figure, and role in size zero fashion. She was recognised at the British Fashion Awards of 2013, for her contribution to fashion over 25 years. Moss had also become a contributing fashion editor for British Vogue. Kate has had her own clothing range, also having been involved in musical projects. Time magazine named her one of the world's 100 most influential people during 2007. She's inspired cultural depictions including a £1.5m, 18 carat gold statue, sculpted in 2008 for a British Museum exhibition. Moss has received intense media scrutiny of her party lifestyle, with drug use allegations from late 2005 having led to her being dropped from fashion campaigns, before being cleared of charges then resumed modelling. She came 2nd on the Forbes top-earning models list during 2012, with estimated earnings of $9.2 million in one year.
