This book on the life and times of Civil War partisan leader, Col. John Singleton Mosby. It is derived from newspaper articles written about and by the man from 1862 when he first came to the attention of the national press, through 1916, the year of his death. During the transcription and assembly of thousands of articles, it became apparent that previous narratives of Mosby's life were badly warped by contemporary accounts that were both inaccurate and decidedly prejudiced. But it was also obvious that there were far more accurate accounts presenting a different and more nuanced perspective on the man.

Editor of the Stuart-Mosby Historical Society newsletter, Mosby scholar
Mosby was hated during the war by the Union and after the war by Southerners when he tried to forget the past and bring Americans back together. His friendship with U. S. Grant did not help him. These newspaper articles cover the man's life from the first time he appeared in a newspaper in 1862 until his death on May 30, 1916.
