Overview
This book traces gothic literary styles in Jewish literature, showing that it haunts the very center of this literature. Further it explores the poetics of prosecution in Jewish and Hebrew literature, reevaluating assumptions about political power and powerlessness, victim and oppressor. The book's audience is interdisciplinary. It will find audiences in literature and Jewish studies. Additionally the book's coda expands the audience, addressing television and film and relating contemporary popular culture to the body of texts included in the study.
