Overview
It was Children's Day. Ten-year-old Obanor who was an orphan was urged by his poor grandmother to join other children in the stadium. There, the legendary Mother of Africa told the story of Jite, the miracle baby: The boy was crippled at birth. But thanks to his mother's dogged faith, he regained the use of his legs. More than that, he used the once-crippled feet to win honours for his community. To conclude, Obanor was miraculously adopted by the Mother of Africa, after the symbolic frying of ice cream in the stadium. For Obanor and indeed the community, it was the happiest day ever. But fate played a fast one on them before sunset... And the happiest day suddenly turned into the saddest day.
