The plot starts with the sudden revelation by Marlene Parker to her close friend Claire that she had been the secret love of Marlon Brando. Although the analysis of Marlon's character as the troubled soul who can't find peace even in death is at the core of the story, there is more, much more to make this novel intriguing and captivate the audience. Marlene, Claire and Charlie are all old Hollywood characters residing at a Home for the elderly. Remembering the days of their past glory inside the Hollywood circle, many secrets are revealed. The circumstances of the characters' life might at first look extraordinary in comparison to our much more modest lifestyle but in the end how they coped with success and its demands, lack of real love, socially necessary compromise that often comes with a high price, betrayal, emotional threat can inspire all of us in dealing with the same kind of demanding situations at one point or another of our life.
