It develops this basis from the beginning, with careful attention to the background and training of chemists. It provides extensive drill in the recognition and classification of molecular symmetry, and then takes up, chapter by chapter, all of the principal applications of group theory in chemistry. The text is directed especially to chemists and covers the whole subject from the mathematical foundation to all of the principal applications, including crystallography.
