She Shall Be Called Woman: Living On Purpose

She shall be called Woman is primarily an exposition of Genesis 2:23. It takes a look at God's purpose in creating Eve, the first woman and Adams response to God's purposeful design of this capable helper which Adam called Woman. Her purpose is found in this one phrase "But for Adam, no suitable helper was found" In Genesis, the search was on for a suitable helper for Adam. this helper would be a co ruler with him. Her suitability was for ruler ship as well as companionship. It seems that as Adam was naming the animals, there was a realization that none responded to HIS NEED for a helper. None of them were named for rulership, authority or dominion. None of their names spoke of ABILITY. So God fixed the problem. She had to be like Adam in order to be suitable for him, so the only place God could find her was inside of Adam. Once he saw her, he saw her ability. He saw her purpose and he responded by naming her. he did not give her a name, he called what she was. Woman. Its this declaration of purpose which brought definition to Eve. Once he named her she could "Live on Purpose" This book takes a look at what it means to live on purpose. what does it mean to live by divine design.
