Overview
The year I had breast cancer was the best year of my life ... Every time Kellie Nissen says those words out loud, people are shocked. But for Kellie, this is her truth. At the start of 2017, the dedicated primary school teacher was raring to go. About to step into a new role and a new phase of her career, Kellie was diagnosed with HER2 positive breast cancer before first term had even begun. Determined to kick cancer firmly in the behind, she didn't think twice about taking a year off. Twelve months away from 'normal' life gave Kellie plenty of opportunity to reflect - on where she'd been and where she was heading. And she didn't like what she saw. In this raw and brutally honest memoir, Kellie gives a voice to Cancer, conversing with the disease as it forces her to face up to the emotions of that year. The best year. And the worst. But ultimately, the year Kellie needed to have. Whether you find yourself resonating or disagreeing with Kellie's thoughts, What Cancer Said - And what I said back will challenge and encourage you to step forward and own the way you feel.
