Overview
In a world that's home to over 40,000 Christian denominations, how is one to navigate the wide range of doctrinal differences that have arisen between them. Is it possible that all of these denominational divisions find their origin in a departure from a single Biblical truth? What does it mean to be called to live as Jesus lived and is it possible to follow Him in the same manner as did His first disciples? "Choking Goats" compares mainstream Christian teaching with the Biblical record and examines over 1,500 years of Christian history to identify the first crack that, as it spread over time, has left us with the fractured body of Christ we see today. In his analysis, N.C. Bishop proposes that one basic concept provides the key to untangling the divisions that permeate Christianity revealing a new, but also very old, understanding of Jesus' message to His followers, even those of us living in the modern era. In doing so, the author endeavors to answer a vital question: Is mainstream Christianity feeding sheep with sound doctrine, or choking goats with misunderstanding and misinterpretation?
