Ownership of Plot 547 is in dispute. Bastien, a wealthy land developer who secretly enjoys designing torture devices, and Martin, an ex-itinerant farmer aiming to charter a tent city for a massive group of thieving squatters, both seek legal title. Their conflict unfolds mainly through the perspectives of two young Trams city zoning officials, Pollock and Hans, who are jockeying against one another for career advancement. As the plot progresses, the narrative examines the histories of the main characters, the portion of land at issue, and the city they occupy. Highlights from the novel include: An escape from a rural orphanage run by a psychotic religious zealot, a battle for supremacy on a high school cross-country team, the quest of a 19th century grave robber named Max, the travails of a raccoon family who recently lost their mother, and a legacy assassin named Jasper who is battling alcohol dependency. Exciting connections among these disparate storylines emerge along the way. Healthy doses of dark humor keep the reading buoyant. TRAMS will appeal to anyone who appreciates outcasts, vagrants, drifters, discontents and all those inhabiting ecotones. It is an exploration of the geneses of niche communities and the troubled individuals who must form and leave them. TRAMS is also a very personal tale of loss and dissatisfaction. Through the arcs of Pollock, Martin, Retta, Max, and Jasper, we see how past traumas can ultimately anchor one's fate and allow the afflictions of one's ancestors to endure. "This story is better than Europe." - Seamus Bjornson Trek Micacchione makes a living as an attorney in Columbus, Ohio. He resides in SoHud with his wife, Allison, and his dog, Fish. SoHud is an eclectic neighborhood just north of The Ohio State University where Trek earned his B.A. in Philosophy before attending Capital University Law School. When away from the office, Trek runs the local neighborhoods to the north in Clintonville, records music, and heroicly sustains a veneer of noble composure in the face of pervasive and terrible nothingness. If you cross paths with him, be sure to let him know that it actually was you whispering dreadful, hate-laced put-downs in his ears as he tried to sleep the past several thousand nights.
