To see this poetry book come to life is such an amazing achievement for my darling Yasmin. When she rst started writing poems at the age of 9 I was surprised how she expressed herself in the words of the poems. Having been diagnosed with aspergers syndrome at the age of 7 I was told that Yasmin would have di culty expressing herself, and showing empathy would always be an issue for her. However seeing the content of her poems another story is told. She has no di culty expressing herself in words and as a result of nding ease in words Yasmin has become more con dent in expressing herself in social situations. Although aspergers is something that Yasmin deals with on a daily basis it is not something that dictates who she is. She may have a diagnosis of aspergers but it does not have control over her. She has found within herself a way to express her thoughts and feelings through the words of her poems. It is her dream that through her book... " e Way I see e World" other people with aspergers or people living with aspergers will see, that although the aspergers may have limitations attached to it, they like Yasmin have limitless potential to be who they want to be and not what society dictates they should be. My darling Yasmin I love you and I am very proud to be your mum. ank you for opening my understanding and for allowing me to wake up to the truth of who I can be.
