The writings and speeches of I.B.Tabata clearly demonstrate that there was an alternative to the programme and policies adopted by the ANC in the struggle against the racist régime in South Africa. In a letter to his young kinsman, Nelson Mandela, Tabata contrasted the programme and method of struggle of the Unity Movement of South Africa, a political organisation of which he was one of the founders, to those of the ANC.
