Overview
Norma Jean heads for the attic. Home is an old two-story farmhouse three miles from town, the Taylor place, where she lives with Aunt Edna, Uncle Frank, and Gram. Taylor men have farmed this land for three generations; her grandfather, the last to do so, died the year before she was born. Her mother, Julia, his youngest daughter, drowned a year later. A bad time for her family. But the details are a big mystery to Norma Jean. In their household no one will talk about it. The past is a closed subject. This collection of Pieceworks depicts characters of every age from nine to ninety. Against the inevitable clash of the outer with the inner world, the unconventional characters in this novella and five short stories emerge as pieces in the freeform design of a beautiful quilt that gives symmetry and deep-rooted meaning to their individual lives. A beautiful read!
