Retired Major General John Slaughter disappears from his Humboldt County, California ranch. Eventually his body is discovered floating in the Van Duzen River in an apparent accidental drowning. The heir to the multi-million dollar Slaughter estate, John's great-nephew Chief Master Sergeant Victor McCoy, had not seen his uncle in over twenty years and has little business experience. Vic is reluctant to forgo his Air Force career to take control of his inheritance until two of the General's closest friends Bart LaRocca and billionaire real estate developer David Tanner agree to mentor him. Vic and Bart soon discover the General's death may not have been an accident but an execution perpetrated by the Slaughters' long-time rivals, the Boyers for John's discovery of their illegal drug operation. For over a century, the Boyers have been the North Coast's preeminent financial and political force while also controlling county and local law enforcement. As if that isn't enough. they employ a large, well-armed paramilitary security force to protect their criminal enterprises. Overmatched and outgunned, David Tanner calls on his son, Bruce, a former US Navy Seal to protect Vic and his family while secretly gathering sufficient evidence to bring the Boyers to justice. Bruce and his team soon determine the Boyers' are connected to Don Theodor Felix's Tijuana Drug Cartel. Their partnership also has links to an international consortium of weapons smugglers, terrorists and money launderers. Before Bruce and Vic have a chance to solidify their evidence, the Boyers and Don Felix realize their criminal activities are on the verge of being exposed. Preemptively, they launch two lethal attacks intended on obliterating all threats to their operations. The appalling attacks compel the US Government to descend on Humboldt while engaging Bruce Tanner and his team to conduct a daring, undercover mission into Mexico.
