The essays in this book have appeared in The Christian Science Monitor, Cat Fancy Magazine, Woman's World Magazine, World Writer's Magazine Issue #4 (UK), The Cleveland Plain Dealer, The Charleston Gazette, Woman's Voices of Columbus, and The Dayton Journal Herald Newspaper. This collection spans forty years. From Whittington's first essay published in The Plain Dealer-Cleveland in the late 70's to more recent stories. Her unpublished essays will make their debut here. Among them is an essay about Dr. Oz, titled Dr. Oz is in My Purse. Most of Barbara's essays are humorous, some thought-provoking. In the early days Barbara discovered the essays of Erma Bombeck. She found she was in a similar situation, living in the suburbs with three children while her husband worked in the city, leaving her with time on her hands. She started writing. Recording family incidents, often not funny. She found she could put a humorous twist on them and they found homes at various newspapers and magazines.
