Escaping the Chrysalis Companion Workbook is designed to enhance the experience of the original award winning, nonfiction, self-help book, Escaping the Chrysalis. Both the original nonfiction, self-help book and the companion workbook are clever evolutions on a parable about a butterfly attempting to break free of the cocoon that once housed it. As the parable goes, a kindly gentleman, noticing the young butterfly's struggle, took out a small pair of scissors and gently snipped at the cocoon to help the insect along. Sadly, without the struggle to break free of the housing, the butterfly was deprived of an important natural process. Typically, as the insect works to escape from the chrysalis, it squeezes through the small opening. As it squeezes through the opening, a fluid is forced into the butterfly's wings. Once that fluid is in the wings, it is the substance that would give the butterfly the strength to fly. Without this struggle, the butterfly never gains the strength in its wings. Unable to fly, it never leaves the ground. This companion workbook is filled with empowering exercises that acknowledge the strength that comes of human struggle. The vast library of exercises included herein looks to the roots of human behavior and beliefs, and then offers systematic options as the means for transformation. Using that criteria of humanness, it works towards the end result of emerging personal empowerment primarily as a result of self-awareness. As a toolkit for self-development, this manual contains dozens of effective and most times unusual techniques for success and fulfillment through self-awareness and empowerment training. The categories as well as the specific topics covered are those of the human condition. All quizzes, exercises, and instructions are clearly directed towards the desired outcome of enhancing quality of life and simultaneously empowering the reader layer by layer as opposed to a shallow 'quick fix' approach. Nor, does this Escaping the Chrysalis Companion Workbook make the assumption that there is anything to fix. At the core, the philosophies contained in this toolkit are those that support the notion of perfection of humans who may have temporarily misplaced, and through the tools in the workbook will re-own some of those lost parts of the whole self. Utilizing the tools and techniques contained in Escaping the Chrysalis Companion Workbook does not necessitate the reader has previously read Escaping the Chrysalis. The experience is enhanced by having the pair, and is highly suggested, but is not a prerequisite to receive the benefits from this workbook.
