This book is an in-depth examination of the idea and long tradition of the harmony of the spheres, through the translations of earlier Greek scholars. The book looks at the difference between the quantitative and the qualitative in the idea's propagation through time. It argues that the modern dismissal of the idea as incorrect proto-science is simply the final destination of a continuing misinterpretation that began in the earliest attestations. It also suggests that behind the misunderstanding of the nature of the idea, it has an actual, relevant relationship to modern science.
