This book is appropriate for beginner readers and students of all abilities. The first five stories systematically introduce one short vowel at a time. The sixth story focuses on the digraphs: wh, th, sh, ch, and ck. The last story is cumulative and provides additional practice reading all the short vowel sounds. It also includes questions that give readers opportunities to engage with the text and interact with the author, instructor, or a fellow student. A phonics word study accompanies each story. Beginner readers and students of all abilities benefit from reading instruction that systematically introduces letters and letter groups.
