Overview
Lehigh Carter, a forester in Oregon's Cascade Mountains, fears two things: women and dogs. Then his former fianc?e, the free-spirited Stacy McBride, convinces him to adopt a stray - and to rekindle their romance. Her father, gubernatorial front-running candidate Sen. George McBride, objects to their reunion almost as much as her recent ex-boyfriend Paul, the Senator's trusted campaign treasurer. When Lehigh accidentally witnesses George's campaign receiving illegal contributions from thugs, a bribe that could bring down the Senator's gubernatorial aspirations, Lehigh finds himself in a life-or-death battle with men who buy judges and Sheriffs, and for whom violence is just another campaign tactic.
