Eel MacGregor, a young man with music in his soul and confusion in his past, never expected to experience magic in his own life. Having witnessed first hand the power of real magic back in Virginia, where he became friends with a Green Man stranded in this world, Eel believed magic was best left to those who understood it. Arriving in Seattle, Eel falls hard for Callie Linden, a girl known to locals as the Goddess of Green Lake. Callie grew up beside the Puget Sound, and learned to sail before she learned to read. The youngest of three sisters who sing together, Callie's passion for the sea was nurtured by the fantastic stories her mother used to tell her before she disappeared. The conventions of ordinary romance don't mean much to Callie until Eel comes into her life. But when Callie and Eel join forces to liberate an orphaned baby sea otter from a public aquarium, they get in over their heads, and it will take more than a few heartfelt protest songs to restore harmony to these troubled waters. All seems lost until Eel discovers magical power in the music he can only make with Callie.
