This book narrates the events of the Battle of Stamford Bridge fought between the English army under the leadership of King Harold Godwinson and the Norwegian army commanded by King Harald Hardrada in 1066. The battle was a decisive English victory and resulted in the death of both the Norwegian king and his ally Tostig Godwinson, Harold's brother.
