Overview
When the Atlas Lions Roar is set against the backdrop of 70s Morocco, a time when Rania and Manal were just children. The novel vividly captures the essence of their childhood trips to the Atlas region, which they initially didn't appreciate. It is only when they leave their homeland to pursue their dreams in Paris and New York that they realise the profound connection they still have with their country. The novel beautifully portrays the powerful ties of family, community, and homeland that bind their hearts, taking the readers on an emotional journey of self-discovery and longing. When the Atlas Lions Roar is a sweet, soaring novel about nostalgic woes, memories, and the complexity of the emigrant experience. Amid the longings for a childhood past, two sisters fight to carve their paths in the world. Across the decades, Rania and Manal learn to embrace their identities and find the roots they thought were long forgotten. The undying song of Morocco will always keep its rhyme and lyrics vibrating in their hearts and souls. It is also for those who can listen to the loud and proud roars of the Atlas Lions.
