Overview
The United States Department of Labor (DOL) is a part of the U.S. Government that is responsible for the occupational safety, wage and hour standards, unemployment insurance benefits, re-employment services, and much more. The purpose of the DOL is to assist citizens in work related situations: conditions, advancement opportunities, profitability, benefits, and rights. To enforce their mission, the Department of Labor has more than 180 federal laws. The Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) is part of the DOL, and is there to protect the interests of all employee benefit pans. On a regular basis reports and other publications are published for consumer use; this is one of those reports.
