Overview
"Don't you realize what we're looking at here? An all time first in the history of the human race. An honest politician." Fast paced, tightly plotted, and irreverently amusing, The Candid Candidate is filled with surprises and unexpected twists and turns. Jack Wood has a compulsion for telling the truth. He can't really tell a lie. And that's only the first of his problems. As the press secretary to his uncle, the mayor of Palmer City, Jack learns that honesty is anything but a virtue. The town has long since been dominated by his uncle's corrupt political machine and with nothing left to lose, Jack challenges him in the upcoming election. Along with the idealistic Melinda Wheeler, and ineptly aided by a pair of elderly party workers, Jack embarks on a quixotic venture promising the voters he will tell them nothing but the truth. Yet the campaign trail is strewn with booby traps. The mayor's aide is Jack's romantic rival for the lovely Melinda. His once benevolent uncle now hates him. And as his improbable campaign picks up steam, there's the biggest problem of all about Jack's truth telling honesty. What if he's lying?
