A lonely thirteen-year-old girl struggles to make a new life without a mother or friends. Her distant, workaholic father offers little companionship, and her closest friend is her horse. When Marigold encounters a boy being attacked by banshees in the forest, she is surprised to learn that she can repel them with her mind.
