Summary It is not a book a child might read, even though the memories captured are pieces of a child's life. You will be taken back into the time of WW2..... into the daily life of a little girl....growing up in an average Southwest German household near Stuttgart.....to start out, into a very peaceful place. Then there comes this war.... And everything changes. Traude says: Originally, I was just going to write about my growing up years. My children suspected, that growing up in a faraway country like Germany must have been quite different from their experience and urged me to write down what I remembered......just for my American family. Of course, there was also a big war going on in that long ago time when Mom was a little girl, so, what was that like? In the end, it was not at all that simple, and it turned into quite a project when I slowly realized that this war had entrenched itself into every phase and detail of my daily- growing- up-life.
