Overview
This novel is about the forces of ambition, greed and power, forces that overwhelm the innocent, inspire the criminal, corrupt the weak and exhaust those who chase the empty rewards that wait at the end of the road. Drew Conner was a corporation's very successful chief financial officer but his path of ambition and winning led him to confront the criminal element that long ago pledged allegiance to money and power. Tony Rainer was an FBI agent in Chicago and she followed a path of ambition that led her away from Drew and into the recesses of her memory where a secret lay hidden from the light. They loved each other until the shroud of ambition tore them apart. For Drew and Tony it will take determination and a cast of odd characters to prevail against all the forces amassed against them. There is Marcos a poor Mexican fisherman, McGuire a retired insurance investigator bored for adventure, and Jake, a computer whiz kid trying to avoid the real world of responsibility. These are characters you will recognize but you don't think of them as unique or special until you engage them on your side in a struggle against the forces of evil.
