The book is dilapidated, but curiosity compels her to buy it. The reading of the book completely changed her life and beliefs. She converted to The Seventh Day Adventist Church and became a follower of Ellen G. White. The correspondence between the American Writer and Ann inspired her to become a missionary of God's message of redemption. The book includes the story of the Parsley Massacre; that took effect under the regime of the Dominican Dictator Rafael Trujillo.
