Overview
This women's fiction romance is about the beautiful Faye Douglas, daughter of a prosperous wine farmer, an impetuous young woman who ruthlessly pursues childhood sweetheart Leroy Philips while all the while unashamedly trifling with the affections of most of the men in the small town of Wallace, California. When the deformed Dr. Cameron Russell buys the local physicians practice and hospital to recover from a disastrous love affair, Faye, unlike the rest of the townsfolk who are enchanted by his seductive charm and gentleness, is repulsed by him and recoils from any contact with him. Despite her rejections or maybe because of them Cameron secretly falls in love with her. Then Faye finds herself in a situation where the hideous doctor offers her a lifeline and she had no choice but to accept it.
