Following Syria's withdrawal from Lebanon in 2005 and war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006, U.S. agencies increased their allocations of security assistance for Lebanon from $3 million in 2005 to about $28 million in 2006. This assistance included training equipment funded and implemented by state DOD for the Lebanese Armed Forces and Internal Security Forces of Lebanon.
