Overview
In May of 2010, President Obama released the Administration's inaugural National Drug Control Strategy. Based on the premise that drug use and its consequences pose a threat not just to public safety, but also to public health, the 2010 Strategy represented the first comprehensive rebalancing of Federal drug con-trol policy in the nearly 40 years since President Nixon declared illicit drugs "public enemy number one."
