Although Of Face Value was written as fiction, it is based on the real life events of Carol Harper, whose beautiful face was destroyed by a drunk driver. Carol's story about a woman named Lisa Caulder is an inspiration to others. Lisa had a high-profile position in a prestigious Washington, D.C., hotel. Lisa marries the man of her dreams a year before the life-changing collision. When her husband, Brian, learns about the wreck, he is devastated. She is unrecognizable and no longer has the face of the woman he married. After numerous surgeries to rebuild her face, Lisa embarks on a journey to reclaim her old life. Through talking with God, she begins to mourn the old Lisa and follow the path God has opened to find the new Lisa. Through ups and downs, heartbreak and setbacks, Lisa becomes stronger. The reader goes along on her journey to discover that true beauty is on the inside.
