Overview
After 9/11, the United States engaged in some if the most complicated state-building seen since the end of the Cold War. Were the actions in Iraq and Afghanistan rooted in previous national or international norms, or were they a significant change of tactic? This work looks to analyze these massive foreign policy commitments through a look at the norms that have governed interventionism in the last 200 years, recognizing change in policy as well as normative consistency.
