Overview
When 13-year-old RITA SMITH'S grandmother dies, she's forced to reunite with her estranged mother TINA'S '30'. Mother and daughter clash at every turn and it soon becomes clear that their relationship is haunted by a tragedy that tore their family apart six years earlier. Rita's struggling with emotional baggage from being molested as a child, an although her father ROLAND ' ' is in prison for killing her molester, she resents both of her parents for what happened to her. There seems to be no hope for reconciliation. That is, until an unlikely friendship with a set of six-year-old twins crack the shell of distrust around Rita's heart. Unfortunately as soon as things start to look up between Rita and Tina, Rita discovers that Tina's been secretly dating a guy that lives on her floor. Rita retreats back into her shell, but she has a secret of her own that could set her free for good. She's confronted with a suppressed memory that reveals it was actually her mother that killed her molester. The realization of what her mother did and her father's willingness to take the murder rap makes her appreciate how much her parents love her and each other. The past to true reconciliation finally begins.
