Overview
This guidance (and it is by no means comprehensive) looks at some of the ways in which the needs of people, whatever their cultural or religious background, can be met during a hospital stay. The aim is to increase awareness of differing beliefs, worship, diets, rites, birth, marriage and death helping all to "respond appropriately and with sensitivity." There are several common factors which cause mental distress in all communities and understanding our differences helps to overcome barriers.
