Overview

Cold, salty water bursts into my eyes with the sensation of burning fire. The wet spray floods my nose sending a sense of electric shock from the front of my face to the back of my head. I open my mouth wide to be filled with life giving air, but instead my gasp only sucks in more of the watery web that surrounds me. Moments earlier I was standing on our ship, the Pinnacle, dry and warm with the comfort of a cool sea breeze on my face, but here I am struggling against the unknown in order to fight my way back above water. The waves are pushing me down from above while the undertow is pulling me from beneath, but the greatest threat to my survival is my sinking heart. This flood of emotion will drown my will before the water ever does my body. It is here I must make the decision - swim or die.In this allegorical short story you will get a glimpse of the sometimes agonizing path between religious disappointment and rediscovering an authentic faith.
