A lot of people dream about it, but only a few set out to do it. Crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a sailing boat is an incredible adventure full of uncertainties and dangers, boat and crew entirely at the mercy of nature. Every year a few hundred yachts leave the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa to sail almost 3000 miles across the Atlantic as part of an international rally to the Caribbean. Journalist Carla and her family are part of that rally, on a one-year sabbatical, living the dream. They join the budding rally community in Las Palmas, meticulously prepare their boat, party and play, navigate across the big pond in often difficult, sometimes horrendous conditions, and, safely arrived, have time to explore the magical Caribbean with rally friends they have made for life.
