Overview
This sampling of utopian and dystopian fiction by 11 authors of the Victorian/Edwardian era includes works by Edward Bellamy, William Morris, George Griffith, Jack London, Robert Hugh Benson, Lady Florence Dixie, and others. Some dreamed of future societies in which poverty, hunger, injustice, and inequality would no longer exist. Others warned of the nightmares to come if festering social problems were not addressed-or if those who promised utopia brought misery instead. How close did they come to predicting our future? Read this collection of classic tales... and judge for yourself!
