Overview

Book Three of The Painted Man series. After the terrifying night in the woods where their past lives were revealed, Jack, Eve and the others try to adjust to a more ordinary life. This seems impossible, for life can never be the same. They have seen their origins, witnessed death and misery but also seen beauty, magic and immense power at play. At Dominic's insistence, the quest continues, for each must better understand their particular part in a greater plan before they can finally come together and defeat The Darkness. While some cope and even grow after such an experience, Jack finds his grasp on this world slipping. As everyone rebuilds their lives, he feels abandoned and alone, especially as Eve seems beyond his reach once more. Unbeknown to Jack, Eve's world is opening up as she too begins to discover a past once hidden from her. Though she finds a demon frighteningly close to home, Eve is stronger than she imagined, especially when the sky-blue eyes of her dreams look upon her in this world.
