Overview
One day I sat in my favorite green chair, teacup in hand, in that predawn quietness, with my mind wandering here and there. Not surprisingly, it wandered into a quagmire of self doubt. As I felt myself sink into a familiar sense of bleakness, it occurred to me that I didn't have low self esteem in every area of my life. Just some areas. The thought brightened me considerably. Suddenly an image floated into my mind-that of a rowboat, one with a few holes in it. Basically seaworthy, it just needed some bailing. I envisioned one hole for every aspect of my low self esteem. I realized some people might have three holes; others five or nine or eight. What if, I wondered, I created a prayer with one line for every hole in my boat? Then, I surmised, I could say that prayer any time I hit the rough waters of my low self esteem.
