Overview
Dr. Shawn Hua is a world-renowned scientist with expertise in infertility, artificial insemination, and in vitro fertilization. As a professor, he should know better than to get involved with a woman twenty-five years his junior, but René Muller tempts him into crossing all the lines. In the middle of a brutal divorce from his wife of nearly forty years, Shawn finds comfort in this new affair. He has met René under special circumstances, and he throws himself into helping her. She is a German American journalist of Chinese descent who is on a quest to find her true identity. They travel through Hong Kong and Taiwan in search of her biological parents, whom René never got the chance to meet. Along the way, they fall hopelessly in love. Then they discover that René's parents died tragically in a plane crash when she was a baby. When they rifle through files looking for more information, the lovers soon learn the most shocking detail of all: an incident from Shawn's past has jeopardized their chances for a happy future together. Although their lives will never be the same, the lesson learned about genuine love will follow them forever.
