It is dark up there on the surface of the earth. It is cold, very cold. the ground is frozen, things can shatter at the slightest bump - people can shatter at the slightest bump. Connor had seen it happen. There are beetles that eat anything, absolutely anything. And there is an unexplained light showing far out across the valley from the Forge's vent.
