Overview
A bizarre case with an even more peculiar back story has sleuthing journalist Gracie Barufaldi digging into the past for clues in this twelfth outing from crime reporter and novelist Eugenie D. West. Combining 'mayhem and mummies, ' NEARLY DEPARTED is based on real events, but given West's usual quirky treatment. A respected and renowned Egyptologist is reported to have exhumed her dead husband's body and kept him in the upstairs bedroom: sad, that a grief stricken widow would go to such lengths! But that's not all that Gracie, and her boyfriend County Detective Jack Draper, discover. Along with a case of embezzlement at Gracie's beloved Women's Club and a flood of historic proportions, NEARLY DEPARTED is another 'slice of life' true crime novel from someone who's been there and got way more than just the t-shirt! NEARLY DEPARTED does not disappoint, and whether readers are already West fans or new to her intriguing brand of well-written, engrossing mysteries. With engaging and unforgettable characters and delicious surprises and twists, this installment of West's 'Reporting is Murder'(c) series will become a favorite.
