Overview
Remnants of the Ancients is a collection of stories, poetry, and other no-stuff which straddles the boundaries between humor, drama and philosophical/religious diatribe. The works range in topic from personal non-fiction ("Debone", "Some Indulgence You'll Just Have to Read Through") to speculative fantasy ("Cookboy", "Tenmaki Descent"), all book-ended by the quasi-realism novella, "Ascetics Like Us". The poetry is also diverse in scope and form ("A Good Wife", "Synthesis Capacity", "Of the Moral Obligations of an Omnipotent Deity", etc.). But despite the range of genres, the collection is written and organized around the central theme and various interpretations of the title phrase.
