Overview

This book provides comprehensive insights into the types of water resources and their uses. Water resources include all the sources of water present on earth. If we compare the proportion of fresh water with salty water, it appears to be negligible. Although freshwater is a renewable resource, the concentration of groundwater is depleting at much faster rate. Water pollution results in contamination of water resources. Pollutants may come from point or non-point sources which includes sewage treatment plants, factories, storm water, etc. Management of water pollution includes sewage treatment, industrial wastewater management, control of urban runoff, erosion, sediment control, etc. The topics included in this extensive book deal with the core aspects related to the pollution and management of water resources. It aims to shed light on some of the unexplored areas of this field. This text also includes contributions of experts from across the globe. Coherent flow of topics, reader-friendly language and extensive use of examples make this book an invaluable source of knowledge.
