Cardiovascular disorders (CVDs) are diseases of the heart or the blood vessels, such as coronary artery diseases (CADs) which include myocardial infarction and angina. Conditions such as heart failure, stroke, cardiomyopathy, rheumatic heart disease, venous thrombosis, etc. are also cardiovascular diseases. The mechanism involved in the manifestation of each CVD is different for each disease. A variety of factors can contribute to the incidence of CVDs, such as poor diet, lack of exercise, lifestyle choices and excessive alcohol consumption, among others. Most of these conditions are preventable. However, cardiovascular diseases remain the dominant cause of death in the world today.
