Sir Edmund Hillary and his climbing partner, Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, reached the top of Mount Everest in Nepal. It is the tallest mountain in the world, and they were the first to reach its peak. After his adventures, Edmund established the Himalayan Trust to donate money to the impoverished country of Nepal to build schools and hospitals.
