Born with telekinesis, Kay spent her childhood in a poverty-stricken city as part of a family that lived all the way at the bottom of modern society. Escaping her father's physical abuse, she spends the better part of her teens and early twenties as a Genetic Extremist, helping those with strong Ch05En genes thrive as she works for their leader, Ghost. Realizing she traded one type of abuse for another, Kay escapes from Ghost's thrall to try once more to make a living while also helping people like her.
