Overview
'Mikayla's Journey' is the story of a five year old girl with nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy. After a time of waiting to get this diagnosis, her parents are then faced with dealing with the nightly, high frequency demands of these type of seizures. It affects the whole family dramatically and then, Aleisha, the younger sister also begins to have seizures. 'Mikayla's Journey' is written from the perspective of a mother desperate to find a cure for her daughters unrelenting seizures. The parents are on a rollercoaster of hospital admissions and trying different medications, some with disastrous side effects. This story will open your eyes to epilepsy if you are not affected, and may offer support and hope if you are.
